christmas and such!

It wouldn't be Christmas without the hats! You can't get the full effect of the hats from the picture - they sang and the tops danced back and forth.

I like the lighting in this picture. Josh's grandmother has sat in that chair every Christmas for as long as I can remember. She always gets the best lighting.
The Tex-ass Crew can't do ANYTHING without everyone documenting every part of it on their own cameras. Of course, as this picture shows, I am guilty of it too, BUT i am trying to be better. What gets me, however, is when we all pose for a picture and the poor sap taking the picture has to take the same picture nine times. Or when one of us gets a good shot and we have to recreate it so someone else can get the same shot on her own camera. We all have digital cameras! OK - rant over.
Sara looking so maternal and knitty with her scarf. I love this picture of her.
Post Christmas latkes! A little on the salty side, but not bad for the first attempt in years...

beyonce

I have always liked Beyonce - ever since senior year of high school. She has the "it" factor that everyone wants but only a few people actually have. In her latest video, there are three girls dancing, all very well, but I couldn't take my eyes off her the entire time I was watching.

best husband ever

So usually when I get home on a cold day, I am so angry at the world for making me cold that Josh has to run and hide from the wrath that is cold me.

Today was out of the ordinary cold-wise and late-ness wise. I had gotten a much-needed after-work facial, which put me downtown at 7:20. Now, if I took my usual route home, I would have to wait forEVER to get a bus at Sullivan, so I decided to take the T to Davis and just get a cab from the cab stand next to CVS. I needed to go to CVS anyway.

Hmm... no cabs in the stand. People waiting and no cabs. Boo. I should have known that the colder the day, the scarcer the cabs (and it was cold...). Hmm... home was about a mile and half away, not too bad. If I kept moving, I would probably be warmer than if I stood fruitlessly in the cold for the cab that will never come. I called Josh to let him know my new plan and, after much protesting on his part, I convinced him that it was not his job to leave the warm house to come pick me up just because I got a facial.

I start walking and made it in about 35 minutes. And I arrived in a surprisingly good mood. The walk felt good after being cooped up in the office all day and the cold air felt good on my recently extracted face. I came home, called up to Josh and heard him thundering down the stairs to take my coat.

Look! Look! he said as he led me upstairs. While Christmas shopping today, he had bought me some eucalyptus and mint bath salts and was running me a hot jacuzzi bath, complete with music and candles. When asked why, he said he knew I didn't like commuting in the cold and wanted to make me smile.

Sigh.

a first feast!

So sausage lentil soup weeks and weeks ago was very good. A definite repeat recipe.

Then, a night of comfort food - jacket potatoes with all the trimmings. - turkey pepperoni, sautéed onions, steamed broccoli, cheese and sour cream. This has been staple in our house since the recent addition of the microwave. We have, however, cut back on the toppings since this picture. It was a little much....

And last but not least - my FIRST time trying to make Indian food! The flavor was ok, but I cut the potatoes too big, so they were a wee bit undercooked. The batch tonight came out much better, but probably because Josh was in charge. It really is quite easy and this potato and peas dish as become our new comfort food.

momma's boy

I am watching this show right now. It has defied the depths reality TV can go. And I can't stop watching.

Mainly because the most bigoted women I have ever been exposed to is on this show. From what I gather, she is an Iraqi Catholic who doesn't want "a black, an Asian or a Jew, someone who wears make up or has big boobs." It is really appalling to hear the things coming out of her mouth. I don't know which is worse though: her extreme racism or how NBC is profiting from the tears and anger that the girls feel because of her.

a hottie or a nottie

When chatting with a friend, we realized that we had different views on the actress Olivia Wilde. I think she looks like a squashed horse-faced alien. He would, and I quote, "... hit that like the fist of an angry God.".

Eyes too wide apart or a unique beauty? You be the judge!

(Leave her body out of it - it is her job to be thin.)
